Partnering with metaLIFE
Are you developing items for Second Life? Want to increase your sales? Have been searching for additional markets?
We offer you to become a part of growing metaLIFE’s community! By becoming a partner to metaLIFE you will have an additional and very powerful way of reaching new customers.
There are few ways we can help you:
1. You can sell on metaHUD
2. Receive highly targeted traffic to your in-world store bysetting your Store as your HOME location
3. Rez metaVOTER in your store, and it will help increase you stores ratings, this way driving more traffic your way
It’s easy, fast and FREE – we take no fee for submitting your items in metaLIFE. Once the sales are on their way – all we will do, is take small percentage to maintain our operations.
To get started all you need to do is follow couple few very easy steps(described below) and your items will be for sale instantly!
I. Getting started
Couple steps explaining how to list your items :
1. First you need to get Partner kit ( you can get it here :Terminal locations)
2. Take out metaWarehouse ( from now on - MW)
3. And place it in a spot – where you believe most people will notice it
( MW also refers people to metaLIFE. This means : the more people you have referred – the more money you make of their purchases or sales, check :Partner guide for more info about this.)
4. Then place items you want to sell into inventory of your MW( we encourage you not place more than 200 items in one MW, instead put another MW and fill it up with your items)
5. If you want you can place a notecard describing your item – it will be given to Your customers every time they request it.
We strongly believe this tool (a notecard) will help you increase your sales. Below you will find a short description, how to set up items information on the web and in the notecard.
II. Log in to metaLIFE website using your account
Once you fill your Warehouse with items, next step is to log in to your metaAccount on MetaLIFE website:
- user name – is your SecondLife first and last name ( for example: Robbie Kiama)
- a password : if don’t have it yet, then you can get it using metaHUD ( press Account and choose Password option) Use this password to log in. You can change your password any time on the website, go to Account settings.
III. Fill your items information and optimize them for search
Once you are logged in with your Account, you can access your items:
- click on My items link
- Choose the category :
Active – items that are currently for sale,
Inactive – items that do not have their price set yet, and therefore are listed but not for sale
Missing – items that were for sale but the warehouse is missing(Tip – SIM might be down)
Tip: if you are just starting – then you should look inside Inactive category.
- find the item and click on it
- Then enter all the info you want. Your choices are:
1) Price
2) In-World Picture UUID key – this is SecondLife’s UUID for textures which are being shown to metaHUD users. Open your inventory, find picture of current item, press right mouse button and choose Copy Asset UUID- paste it here.
3) Add New Tags - A tag is a (relevant) keyword associated with or assigned to your item, thus enabling keyword-based classification of information it is applied to.( Wikipedia). For us to tokenize the string a ‘Separator must be used.’ As a separator we use SPACE. If you want to use a tag consisting of multiple words use double quotes ” ”.
4) Preview and delete current tags
If you want to increase your sales, you can :
1. write a detailed description of your item – this is not required
To do this you have place a notecard into your warehouse with the exactly the same name as your item with the ending “_nc”.
For example your item name is BIG GUN then your notecard must be named BIG GUN_nc
You can fill as much information in your notecard as you like and it is believed to greatly increase sales.
2. Choose your in-world Store as your HOME location from Your Favorites , make sure you have money in your metaAccount, and we will send highly targeted traffic to your Store, because when viewing your items people will be have an option to buy it via the HUD or teleport to your Home location. Each time someone teleports - it will cost you L$10.
IV. Remember 5 Tips to help you increase your sales
If you do, you will face no troubles listing your items in metaLIFE’s Marketplace - metaHUD, it will be easy and fun – it will take only 1 to 3 minutes once you are used to it. After you are done with it – then your items are on an autopilot 24 hour sales system. We encourage you not to forget these few Key Points to success in your sales.:
1. Use tagging – it will increase your items visibility ,
Think about your item and use relevant tags, but don’t over tag – it will work bad on your items rating.
2. Choose your Store as Your Home location – and we will drive targeted in-world Traffic your way
This is a good way to get additional highly targeted traffic and sales at your in-world store.
3. Describe your items and set nice picture
If you have lots of items, then choose your best selling ones and write a description for them – it will work great attracting more customers. Nice Picture is a magnet itself.
4. Leave metaWarehouse in world at all times!
Otherwise your items will be placed in a missing category and will not be for sale anymore.
If your SIM goes down once in a while – it might me a good idea to keep couple of MW’s with the same items on different SIM’s , to make sure your items stay for sale at all times.

5. About 200 items per MW – is the recommended limit !
It is dangerous to exceed this limit – because then there is a danger that during a sale your customer might not get your item or something else might go wrong ( please tell us if you face any difficulties concerning this issue)
In the case – where you have more than 200 items to sell, we offer to rez another metaWarehouse and place your items in it.

V. Percentage:
At the moment our commission system is really simple. For each sale the same rules applies each time.
After the sale:
97%- goes to the content creator (Selling partner)- to you.
1,5% - goes to the Referring Partners
1,5% - stays with metaLIFE
We hope this simple system is going to motivate you to increase your sales in metaLIFE as much as possible.
VI. Withdrawing Money You Have Earned
Once you have made some money – you can instantly take it. All you need to do is:
- put meta HUD on your screen ( if you don’t have one, get it here.)
- Press Account and choose Balance to check the balance of your metaAccount (also you can use this money for purchasing any items on metaHUD)
- to withdraw the funds, press Account and choose Withdraw L$, and type in : “/8 AMOUNT”
For example:
/8 100
this will give you 100 L$ ( if you have that much in your metaAccount)
